Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple

Sri Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple is a renowned Hindu temple located in Andhra Pradesh, dedicated to the goddess Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi, believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. The temple is situated in Burujupeta of Visakhapatnam City.

Initially located within the Visakhapatnam Fort, the temple was destroyed during an attack by an army of enemies, and the idol of the goddess was thrown into a nearby well to protect it. Later, the goddess appeared in the dreams of some devotees and instructed them to install her idol without a roof. The current temple was constructed in 1912 by the Raja of Bobbili, following the divine instructions of the goddess.

The temple is well-known for its unique architecture, which has no roof as the goddess preferred no roof. The idol of the goddess, made of stone, is adorned with exquisite gold and silver ornaments. The temple is famous for its annual festivities, particularly during the month of Sravana, which is celebrated with great devotion by thousands of devotees.

Visitors to the temple can take part in various rituals and ceremonies, including the daily Abhishekam, Archana, and the weekly Friday Pooja. The temple is open as below mentioned, and visitors must follow specific dress codes and guidelines while on the temple premises.
